Xerta is a run-of-the-river plant situated on the Ebro River, 20km upstream from Tortosa, in the province of Tarragona. The plant makes use of existing hydraulic infrastructure at the site and construction of the new facility was completed in 2003. The Xerta plant is equipped with 4 groups of Semi-Kaplan turbines and has an actual capacity of 18.0 MW.
Head is 3.05 m and flow 400 m3/s. Current average annual production is 45.0 GWh.
